Here we have the now icon it bag the Mulberry Alexa. A bag fawned after by guys and girls equally. (Here is it shown the the middle pulled in using two small buckles at the back.)
Available from Mulberry for €1160
Here we have the "Postman's Lock Backpack." Or to me the Manlexa. It's actually a more structured version of Alexa. Except they added a small metal loop to the back where you could string the shoulder strap through to carry it on your back.
The only other difference is that the Manlexa has a wide canvas shoulder strap while the original Alexa has a narrow leather one.
Available from Mulberry for €990
If these two bags were next to each other I think anyone would have a hard time telling them apart. I would much prefer to have the Oversized Alexa with the wide canvas strap. Which I'm sure Mulberry would be willing to provide.
So I ask why Mulberry didn't just put the wide strap on the oversized Alexa and put it in the men's section? Why did Mulberry feel they had to dress it up as a whole new bag? It's not like men aren't carry the Alexa as a messenger bag anyway.
